The Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka received today the Ambassador of the Kindom of Spain to Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Bosco Gimenez Soriano and his Deputy Javier Blanco who congratulated hom on his election.
Ambassador Gimenez Soriano expressed his wish for intensifying the cooperation between Sarajevo and Madrid, which signed the Sister City Agreement in 2007.
Mayor Skaka informed the Ambassador about the major projects that the new city administration plans to implement with the aim to improve the quality of life of citizens, such as the Trebević cable car and rehabilitation of the river bank of River Miljacka. They also discussed one of the most important events that Sarajevo will organize in the upcoming period, the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) which will be held in the Bosnian and Herzegovinian capital in 2019.
It was concluded that the most important areas for implementation of joint activities of Madrid and Sarajevo are sport and culture. In that regard, the Mayor suggested holding a concert of Madrid Philharmonic Orchestra at the City Hall. On the other hand, they welcomed the arrival of acclaimed Spanish journalists to Sarajevo in order to make a report on Sarajevo and thus bring closer the beauties, life and customs of our city as an increasingly more popular tourist destination in the region.
