Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka met with the Hungarian ambassador H.E. József Négyesi.
At today’s meeting, Mayor Skaka and Ambassador Négyesi discussed the present cooperation between Sarajevo and Hungarian cities, especially Budapest and Pécs, as well as plans for the future.
It was concluded that the Cooperation Agreement between Sarajevo and Budapest signed last year is a sound basis for concrete cooperation in all fields of interest for citizens of the two cities. Special interest was shown for the field of culture and tourism, and it was pointed out that a significant step forward was made when it comes to cooperation between universities, which includes student exchanges between Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassador Négyesi showed readiness of his country to continue with the support and assistence to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way to EU membership.
Mayor Skaka thanked the Hungarian government and the cities of Budapest and Pécs for donating funds for the reconstruction of the Sarajevo City Hall.
In the end of the meeting , Mayor Skaka extended an official invitation to the Mayor of Budapest to visit the BiH capital city which has a sister city relation with the Hungarian capital since 1995.
