The delegation of the City of Sarajevo headed by Ivica Šarić, Deputy Mayor and Igor Gavrić, Chairman of the Sarajevo City Council, received the delegation of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, headed by Yan Aoshuang, Chairman of the Permanent Board of Beijing Municipal People’s Congress (BMPC).
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Chen Bo.
The high delegation of Beijing Municipality visited Sarajevo with the purpose of strengthening relations with the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the guests were given a tour of some of the main cultural-historic monuments and tourist attractions including the Trebević Cable Car.
During the meeting at the City Hall, the two parties discussed the initiative to establish sister city relations between Sarajevo and Beijing. Deputy Mayor Šarić welcomed the delegation, pointing out that both cities hosted the Olympic Games and share a lot of joint interests.
- Sarajevo is developing rapidly and next year it will be the host of the EYOF sports competition, while Beijing will be the host of WOG 2022 – said Šarić.
Chairman Gavrić added that Sarajevo was the economic and administrative centre of the country, stressing that there is a will to improve ties. Ms Yan Aoshuang said that the delegation was honoured by the reception in Sarajevo, emphasizing that there is a great interest for development of tourist relations.
- The relations between our cities are improving and it is our hope that this visit will strengthen them even further. Sarajevo is without doubt attractive for tourists from Beijing and we are very happy because of it – said the high representative form the capital city of China.
