Michelangelo Pistoletto, one of the most prominent contemporary artists in the world and great friend of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, will visit Sarajevo for the fourth time in order to officially present one of his most important works “Place of Multi-religious and Lay Meditation” to our city.
The inauguration of Pistoletto’s work will take place on September 26 at the Historical Museum of BiH, in the presence of the author and numerous guests from the political, diplomatic, cultural and public life of the city of Sarajevo and the state of BiH.
The Italian artist visited Sarajevo for three days last year, when he presented his work, and initiated the third phase of development of the Ars Aevi Project, with the goal of promoting it both internationally and in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Maesto Pistoletto was the first artist to donate his work “La porta dello Specchio/The Door of the Mirror” for the contemporary art collection Ars Aevi in 1994, as well as the first artist who held an individual exhibition in Sarajevo in the Art Gallery of BiH in 2001.
By founding the public institution Museum of Contemporary Art Ars Aevi, the City of Sarajevo gave institutional support to the initiative for Sarajevo to finally obtain a museum of contemporary art, which should also signify the completion of the implementation of Ars Aevi project, which is of great importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its capital city.
