On the occassion of the marking of the 73rd anniversary of liberation of the city of Prato (Republic of Italy), the Chairman of the Sarajevo City Council Igor Gavrić, MD, Deputy Mayor Ivica Šarić, Deputy Chairman Edina Gabela, city councillors Nuko Grebović, Miro Lazović and Srđan Srdić, and head of Municipality Novo Sarajevo Nedžad Koldžo paid an official visit to city of Prato.
The representatives of the City of Sarajevo, Igor Gavrić MD, Chairman of the City Council, Ivica Šarić, Deputy Chairman Edina Gabela, city councillors Nuko Grebović, Miro Lazović and Srđan Srdić, met with, among others, with the senator of the Republic of Italy Mr. Claudio Martini who served as Mayor of the City of Prato and governor of Toscana during the aggression on our country and gave a great contribution to establishing sister city relations between the city of Sarajevo and the city of Prato, as well as establishing official cooperation with the Toscana region. The sister city relations were preceded by substantial aid which this city provided to the citizens of Sarajevo during the siege 1992-1995.
During the meeting with the representatives of the City of Sarajevo, the Senator of Italy Mr. Claudio Martini expressed his readiness to provide support to the implementation of the project Museum of Contemporary Art Ars Aevi. Both sides expressed wishes for continuing the cooperation between sister cities Sarajevo and Prato .
The chairman of the City Council Igor Gavrić, MD stressed that the City of Sarajevo cherishes a sincere longlasting friendship with the city of Prato, which resulted in significant cooperation for the City of Sarajevo. “This visit will further strengthen the link between the two cities which will continue working in the implementation of joint projects” said Gavrić MD.
